European Commission targets car servicing costs
The European Commission has adopted new Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulation (BER).
The new 2010 regulation is focused on creating increased competition within the Automotive Aftermarket within Europe.
Pervious regulation in this area was very weak and has been largely ignored by many manufacturers. The new regulation focuses on making sure parts, tools, technical information and equipment are made available to both fleet users and any repairers, including non franchised dealers.
Until now Car Manufacturers have been able to restrict the sale of genuine parts they purchase themselves from the Original Equipment Manufacturer. The new regulation will allow these parts manufacturers to supply parts through any channel including the franchised dealer network. This will mean original parts prices will fall; meaning the difference between the costs of substandard parts compared to genuine parts will fall.
In addition, it has been very difficult to determine the difference in the quality between genuine parts and low quality copies however now the OEM’s can use their logos and trademarks on their own parts so it will become easier to determine the difference in quality in parts.
It will now also be possible for the independent garage to deal with complex (Euro 5) compliant vehicles by accessing the relevant fault codes.
While this is obviously good news for the independent repairer it is also good news for the under-utilised franchised dealer as they will also be able to offer after service for multiple manufacturers.

Further delays in the delivery of the new Ford Fiesta 2011
With over 80% of all new vehicle orders placed with Auto eBid being factory orders taking an average 12 weeks, clients rightfully expect the vehicle to turn up on the anticipated delivery date.
While the majority of all orders are indeed delivered on time, issues with delivery time on a limited number of orders do occur from time to time due to the manufacturer and or ‘acts of god’.
The biggest culprits are Ford and Hyundai, with common excuses such as a “certain component no longer being available”, and “recent influx of orders taken” or “transport issues”. For those of you waiting for the new 2011 Ford Fiesta, you are likely to have to wait a little longer. We have been informed that delays of up-to 2 weeks are likely on the new Ford Fiesta 2011 are due to Hurricane Alex.
The new 2011 Ford Fiesta is built near Mexico City and it seems Hurricane Alex hit Northern Mexico a few weeks ago causing damaged railroads near the factory.
According to Auto eBid CEO Amin Saleem “Delays in the delivery of new vehicles are the bane of our business. Unfortunately while the majority of orders taken are delivered on time, in a few cases delays caused by the manufacturer place a lot of undue pressure on the main franchised dealers and even Auto eBid. While we currently have a 96% customer satisfaction rate, we are confident this would be even higher if it were not due to manufacturer delays.”
“Our job does not simply finish when you have ordered your new vehicle. We will track your order until delivery and chase up the supplier to apply more pressure than is possible by an individual on the franchised dealer and the manufacturer.”
“We have already removed a number of unscrupulous dealers who use unethical practices such as promising quicker delivery times just to get the order and will remain focused in removing any unethical supplier in the future. “

“Yor vill” never polish, wax, car wash or rub your new 2001 BMW M3
Sounds a bit harsh however if you purchase the new BMW 2011 Frozen Gray M3 Coupe this is what you will be forced to agree to by BMW. Apparently, BMW will require all owners of the matt grey 2011 M3 Coupe to sign an agreement promising not to polish, wax, machine car wash or even rub to hard.
“Yor vill” remove bugs, tree sap, bird droppings or any dirt immediately with a soft sponge. And if you don’t agree to this “yor vill” not get one…
So, can anyone be bothered to go through all this hassle?

Flabbergasted by the cost of the options on your new car?

Think again, we recently took an order for a new face lift Audi A8 at just over £100, 000 where there total cost of options selected was £47,475. That’s nearly 50% of the car cost in options alone…
The most expensive options were TV, advanced sound system, Electric adjustable outer rear seats, and leather alone at £7,600.
While the ostentatiousness of the above might surprise some of our readers, we found the most ostentatious option ever ordered to be “Lambswool rugs in footwells” at a mere £632 on a Rolls Royce Ghost. That clients most expensive options selected were a Sunroof at £4,485 and Chrome exhaust finish at £2,041

When will I get the best deal on a new car?

It’s another new month and also more importantly the start of a new quarter. We have already created a “How to buy a new car” guide at http://www.autoebid.com/how-to-buy-a-car.asp where we state “Heavier discounts are always available at the end of the month or financial quarter when dealers are chasing the last few deals they require to hit a target. If you are looking at taking advantage of this, we would suggest having your auction finish between the 20-24th of the month”.
What we do not mention is the time it takes for manufacturers to get their act together and decide on the bonuses they are going to offer at the beginning of the new quarter… It’s now the 9th July and still over a week into the new quarther most suppliers offering big bonuses still do not know what deals they can offer. Surely this helps no one? I would remove this last sentence
Ford have recently introduced a new pricing system called “blue tag”. Ford recently decided to reduce the RRP on the Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy and at the same time reducing the discounts offered to you the consumer… For this new quarter, Ford have introduced “blue tag” across the entire range. While our discounts have now come down we still offer the best current discounts avaialbe in the UK as you would expect by getting hundreds of Ford dealers to compete for your order all at the same time.
Land Rover is an example of a Manufacturer who seeems to drip feed pricing of the new 2011 models to certain prefered dealers but not all franchised dealers, therefore causing confusion and an inability for some dealers to even offer pricing on the new 2011 models, while at the same time ceasing to take orders on the 2010 model.
