Following the massive success of Ashes to Ashes the prices of used Audi Quattro’s have more than doubled in recent months.

DCI Gene Hunts red Audi Quattro has become something of icon in recents years and this seems to have caught the imagination of the nation.

But be warned: don’t expect the four-wheel drive Quattro to re-enact the show car’s lairy sideways action. According to the crew’s chief mechanic Guy Bostock, their Quattro stunt car has been heavily modified by the guys behind the Bond films, who have converted it to two-wheel drive.

Their are apparently 3 quattro’s on sale on Autotrader – happy hunting.

Audi A1 prices start at £13,114 in UK

Audi’s new A1 supermini has gone on sale in the UK today, priced from £13,114 for a 1.2 TFSI trim model and the top of the range model will set you back a cool £18,280 for the 1.4 TFSI auto. Which means it more expensive than the class leading Mini.

The A! will be available in three trim levels: SE, Sport and the flaghsip S Line editions. Basic SE models come with start-stop, 15-inch alloys, six-speaker CD Player with MP3 compatibility, voice control, a 6.5in multimedia screen, cloth seats, air-con, electric front windows and door mirrors, ESP, remote locking and six airbags.

Climb to Sport spec, and you’ll upgrade to 16in alloys, sports suspension (rarely a good idea in our view), Bluetooth phone spec, sports seats, trip computer and various flashes of alloy and piano black trim, front foglights and a polished tailpipe.

Maximum S line A1s add 17in alloys shod with 215/40 R17 rubber, even harder suspension, part-leather upholstery and multi-function steering wheel, black headlining, high-gloss radiator grille, sports bumper, side skirts, rear diffuser and a rear spoiler.

At launch, Audi is offering a 1.2 TFSI and 1.4 TFSI petrols with 85bhp or 120bhp, and a solitary 1.6 TDI diesel with 104bhp. The 1.4 petrol can be had with S-tronic seven-speed twin-clutch transmission for £1420. Ouch.

Audi confirn new A2 – expected 2012

Despite the less than universal praise for the original A2 – Audi have confirmed at the Geneva Motorshow that there will be a new A2 and it would be based on the A1 that we featured last week.

The first official confirmation that an A2 is in the works is a quote by Audi’s CEO Rupert Stadier, he said that “There’s clearly room for another product and another concept between the A3 and A1″.

Early indications are that a new Audi A2 will based on the A1 platform and probably come as an e-torn of some description, although we aren’t sure how Audi are going to differentiate it from A1 and the A3 ?

Whatever it is, it will be a year or two before we see anything. But we doubt Audi will make the mistake of making it so light that the whole car rocks when you put the window wipers on – which is exactly what happen on the last model.

Audi R8 V10 5.2 FSI Quattro – Stunning CGI

We’ve had a video drop in today which is of the Audi R8 V10. Nothing remarkable there then, but this tasty aperitif is a video completely made up of CGI (that’s computer generated image) if you don’t know.

We think Audi may have done this for the ever-delayed Gran Turismo game which still hasn’t seen the light of day and will be released sometime this year.

What we do know is that this CGI clip, all 100 seconds or so, gives you a better feel for the R8 V10 than anything short of us delivering one to you to sit and play. It really is remarkably good.

And not only are the all the images digitally created, so is the sound track.

Audi’s new A1 – Geneva Motor Show

After a seemingly never ending drip feed of teaser information Audi’s Mini-rivalling A1, it has finally been unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. So what’s the verdict?

Well, it’s an Audi but much smaller than we are used to – it’s going to compete with the ever impressive Mini, Mito, Fiat 500 and the new Citroen DS3.

One the main selling points for these premium hatches is the ability to customise them and Audi’s solution is the “roof contrast line”.

Engine-wise the A1 majors on small capacity engines punching above their weight with turbos, direct injection and other efficiency boosting measures. An 86hp 1.2 and 122hp 1.4 – both turbos – make up the petrol range.

Other neat features come via the LED-lit bose speakers that will certainly appeal the iPhone generation.

Audi’s New RS5: info leaked a week early

Audi has revealed the RS5 – a 444bhp rival for the BMW M3 Coupe – ahead of its Geneva debut after brochure details were leaked onto the internet by some naughty rapscallions with no morals.

Thirty years after Audi debuted the original quattro they have just unveiled their latest RS5 coupe which will continue the legend – with the combination of high-revving V8 power and a new super-fast S tronic twin-clutch gear.

It’s expect to be on forecourts by late October and its first European customers in October.

Like all RS models, the RS5 features quattro all-wheel drive, but the this latest generation has evolved more with a clever center differential know as a crown-gear differential. The 40:60 ratio of standard rear-biased configuration ensures responsive handing.

Visual differences from the S5 could best be described as ‘subtle’: there’s a new front splitter and bigger air intakes, with a retractable spoiler round the back that raises at 75mph, a feature officially known as the ‘Ooh, look at me, officer!’ wing.
