CADILLAC background and news
Founded in 1902 from the remains of the Henry Ford Company, Cadillac has been a part of General Motors since 1909. Indeed, the car maker has led the way in creating the modern automobile as we know today.

In fact, it always aspired to innovate. It was, for example, the first carmaker to produce high-quality engineered components that were interchangeable. It turned out to be a very important invention for the development of this sector.

The company has continued its journey by building the first new car with a fully enclosed cabin in 1910 and later in 1912 proposed for lighting and an electric starter on all its vehicles.

In 1914, it was able to produce its own V8 engine and was the first carmaker to employ a designer to make drawings of its models.

For its innovation and substantial standing in the US market, Cadillac has always been considerate as the classiest North American brand, carrying almost similar status to a Rolls-Royce, particularly where unabashed luxury and unquestionable premium status is concerned. It has been available in Europe, but always in limited numbers. Cadillac wants to change this and is working to increase supply to this region by increasing production. However, there have been some difficulties in executing these plans in recent years. In order to reduce costs, it has been using bases of GM's Saab model range in many of its models.

Cadillac models are not known to be built with the kind of quality standards expected in Europe and are not able to propose materials onboard which could be as good looking as German or other European models. These cars though are less expensive than its European equivalents.

The Cadillac range includes the new Cadillac BLS, available in saloon and wagon, the Cadillac CTS and CTS-V, the crossover Cadillac SRX and the new Cadillac STS. Due to its current financial status, Cadillac hasn’t presently been able to introduce new models, but it is hopeful that 2009 would see the tide turning for the better.
