You can’t fault the Tiguan when it comes to tough road journeys – its 2.0-litre diesel engine holds well. It is a strong, safe and smooth drive. There is also a 1.4 petrol that is a lot quieter than the diesel.

The Tiguan allows for neat controls which are logically laid out. Seats are adjustable alongwith the steering wheel. It allows good space for four adults with five possibly a squeeze in.

The Tiguan does not come cheap but its running costs are low, which perhaps compensate. However, the Tiguan is a Volkswagen presentation, and like all presentations coming from this particular stable, retains all the hallmarks of its maker’s expertise at making top-quality vehicles.
