New FIAT SCUDO Review:
A first impression of the new Scudo is that it is obviously apparent it comes from a joint venture with Peugeot/Citroen – as it looks indistinguishable from the Expert and Dispatch. In truth however, this is a very good attempt by Fiat, who have clearly improved the Scudo in comparison to the old model. First of all it undercuts the French manufactures in both price and running costs, not too bad considering it comes with the option of three Peugeot engines. The 1.6 and two 2.0 litre engines are all excellent drives and are able to pull loads of up to 1200kg. As well as having a variety of engines, the Scudo is available in multiple trims, meaning that the Fiat can be transformed into a panel van, passenger vehicle or a platform cab. Naturally, your preference will alter the van’s configuration, whether it is the roof height, payload capacity or wheelbase length. The heavily weighted front end on each model has been designed to enhance performance, fuel consumption and noise insulation. There is also an option to include a pneumatic suspension, well worth the extra money in order to ensure easy loading. The cabin area is quite basic and business-like, though it has plenty of storage and a strong dash, indicating a good build quality. There are also three front seats, though three grown adults will find it rather restricting.
