Almost certainly the best van in its class, the brand new Mercedes Sprinter has built on its successful predecessor to produce the most flawless transit going. It is stronger, more powerful, has better safety and greater comfort levels. The Sprinter is able to carry heavier loads than last time around too, ranging from three to five tonnes and with areas between seven and 17 cubic metres. The driver’s seat and steering wheel are height adjustable and easy handling makes the Sprinter effortless to drive on the road. It comes with the option of three roof heights, four vehicle lengths and a number of engine configurations. There are four 2148cc turbo diesels, which offer between 88bhp and 150bhp, while the 3.0 litre V6 is the most powerful option, providing 184bhp. Mercedes also claim the Sprinter is easier to run, with cheaper replaceable parts and a less expensive insurance band, despite the bigger engine outputs. The Sprinter’s most attractive feature however, is that it is the safest model in its class. It performed better on crash tests and is equipped with a superior stability control system.
