With only 14 weeks remaining before the new VAT rate comes into force, many new car buyers may be surprised to learn that the average delivery time on most new vehicles is 12 weeks, not leaving much time for any possible delays. Unfortunately, most dealers are not able to simply invoice you for your car prior to the VAT increase partly due to not being able to raise an invoice for the car without the vehicles chassis number.

For the second month in a row new car sales have fallen according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). You might be forgiven for thinking car manufacturers would be bending over backwards for new car orders, however according to Auto eBid, the award-winning online reverse car auction service, many manufacturers are not able to keep up with demand and as a consequence exceptionally long delivery times are being offered on many new cars mainly from German manufacturers such as Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Mini and Porsche.
Key to the reason why Auto eBid has been able to buck the trend and actually increase it’s new car sales by 20% in the last two months over the same period last year is not only due to being the most competitive way to buy a new car, but due to it’s ability to offer far quicker delivery times than any other supplier in the UK.
Unlike any other new car supplier in the UK, Auto eBid markets your order to all competitive suppliers in the UK in real-time. In addition to suppliers competing against each other on price suppliers are also competing on delivery times.
A limited amount of our suppliers speculatively order cars in advance and are able to offer these existing “build slots” to our clients, offering our clients better availability than anyone else as well as extremely competitive prices.
Recent examples, Porsche Cayenne Diesel Tiptronic S with bespoke options ordered last week with our client not being able to obtain delivery before well into 2011 however our client now has an order in place with Porsche for a December 2010 delivery.
Audi R8 SPYDER 5.2 FSI Quattro 2d R Tronic, the client was offered a number of cars for immediate delivery that he was not offered through the Audi network and at discounts.
Cheshire-based Ian Pye used the service to secure over £12,500 off the price of a brand new Aston Martin DB9 Volante convertible built to his specification and was quoted a far quicker delivery time than his local dealer could offer.
