The Crossfire is an interesting blend of American and European engineering: the design is blatantly American, but it’s powered by a fantastic Mercedes V6 engine, which provides plenty of power and sounds great – making sure the Chrysler can stand up to the competition. However the American-designed chassis lets the car down with slightly vague handling which means that the car lacks assurance during high speed cornering and fails to inspire confidence in the driver. Whilst this may not therefore be a true sports car, it’s still proving popular because of its great design (despite the slightly cramped interior) and the Mercedes input will ensure reliability is good, although residual values are fairly weak.
