The Trajet is a substantial MPV, even when compared to rivals in its class which is a big plus-point for large families with plenty to carry around (who represent most of this Hyundai's market). Even with all seven seats in place, there is still luggage space and head/legroom is better than most competitors, so it's a good start. What's more the price is lower than the competition and equipment levels are high across the range - so it initially appears to be a formidable proposition. However, get behind the wheel and things turn slightly sour: the Trajet is desperately let down by its poor refinement and clumsy handling, with noise levels becoming over-intrusive at motorway speeds - although the diesel does offer a better blend of power and economy. The ownership costs should however prove to be reasonable: the Hyundai 5 year warranty offers excellent reassurance and the diesel has fairly strong residual values. But make sure you get an additional discount with AutoeBid - there are some massive savings to be had!
