The Renault Scenic has progressively matured over the last few years - and each evolution has added a bit of weight to this family MPV. With the addition of the Grand Scenic option, Renault have broadened the net to incorporate a full-sized MPV to offer a bridge between the standard Scenic and Espace which gives buyers plenty of choice depending on exactly how much space they might need. Both models stem from the same chassis which offers a pleasant ride with external noise well suppressed, although the fantastic car-like handling of the original Scenic has been lost as its waistline has grown, which is a slight shame.
The engines are good - but the higher powered diesels really stand out for their ability to mix comfortable cruising with strong pulling power, whilst keeping down the fuel consumption. Renault has also developed a reputation for producing safe cars and the Euro NCAP five stars provide the reassurance that occupants are well protected should the unthinkable happen. Add to all that the superb discounts on offer in AutoeBid's reverse auction and it makes great financial sense.
