The new Santa Fe is certainly the best Korean 4x4 yet. Not only is it far better looking than the preceding model but its interior also carries a much-improved look and feel. The drive is also superbly refined with a punchy 2.2 litre diesel engine that pulls smoothly from standstill, revs eagerly and offers far better economy than the thirstier 2.7 V6 petrol. Both engines are quiet on the move, allowing a high level of refinement and well-engineered ride which translates into a comfortable long-distance cruiser. Whilst it has 4x4 capabilities, it's not a true off-roader and shouldn't be considered as such... although the occasional foray into the mud wouldn't be a problem. Getting a discount from your dealer will be unlikely on the new model, although the reverse auction has been generating some excellent savings from UK Hyundai dealers - or just give the Sales Team a call if you're looking for big discounts on the outgoing model.
