The Lancer is a practical and perfectly adequate car, but probably has more going for it in estate guise. Powered by either a 1.6 or 2.0-litre petrol engine, it offers everything the driver needs to get from A to B with minimal fuss - although it couldn't be much further from the mental Evolution rally model. The engine gets raucous when pushed and general cabin noise is high enough to make conversations difficult - not something that buyers paying this sort of money in the 21st century should really have to put up with.The Mitsubishi's focus is on providing value - and there's a lot within the package: you'll get air con, 4 airbags, electric windows/mirrors, remote central locking and a CD player. It's an impressive list and additional options are fairly cheap too.
