New TOYOTA URBANCRUISER Review:
Toyota describes the Urban Cruiser as a mix between a practical family hatchback and tough all-road vehicle. With rivals such as the Citroen C3 Picasso the Urban Cruiser certainly stands out with its distinctive looks and bold styling. It is also very spacious inside the cabin and even though it has a fairly small boot the rear seats fold down to creates extra storage. Easy to manoeuvre in towns and cities as well as being a fairly economical ride, the Urban Cruiser is an all-round relaxing drive. There are only two engines however, a 101bhp 1.3 litre VVT-I petrol engine and a 90bhp 1.4 litre D-4D diesel. The Toyota Urban Cruiser corners well, is quiet inside the cabin and negotiates moving and standing traffic with ease. It also has a strong built quality, profiting from upmarket cabin materials. Three out of five stars for safety is disappointing however, especially when you consider that Toyota’s Yaris, Auris and iQ all scored a perfect five. The below par rating is also surprising when you see that the Urban Cruiser is equipped with a healthy seven airbags, ABS brakes as well as traction and stability control. On a better note the Urban Cruiser maintains the Japanese carmaker’s exquisite reputation for reliability which certainly makes sure it competes with others in the class.
