The new Astra has stepped up to take on the likes of the VW Golf and Ford Focus head-to-head in perhaps the most competitive sector in the new car market. And it's a very convincing effort: Vauxhall have targeted the areas in which the old Astra fell short, notably the look and feel which could never match the Golf's Germanic quality. The new Astra feels well built and sturdy, with a sophisticated interior that boasts good levels of equipment and an excellent chassis that ensures a dynamic and rewarding drive. The petrol and CDTi diesel engines are all good - and the sporty VXR produces a whopping 240bhp to take on the mighty Ford Focus ST. Vauxhall have priced the Astra competitively, but AutoeBid's level of discount makes it an amazing buy from about £10000 with potential savings of thousands of pounds.
