Steps to completing your part exchange checklist:
Preparation
Before selling your car, you will need to prepare it so that potential buyers
will be attracted to it. Understandably it will have been through the mill a bit
and might look like it has seen better days. To rectify matters, we would
suggest the following:
·
Take the car to a mechanic, ask them to tune the car up and fix any items
requiring attention.
·
Clean your car thoroughly inside and out (remove all personal effects & damp
dust the interior.
·
You should make sure you have all your cars paperwork including the V5
Registration Document, your M.O.T. Certificate if your car is over 3 year's old
and your car's service history book
Taking pictures
This is your real chance to increase the amount and value of bids you receive.
If you do not add any images or only add one or two poorly taken pictures then
dealers will presume your car has more damage than it really does. In addition
dealers will also be potentially taking a bigger risk in providing bids on a car
they have not seen and can’t even view decent pictures of. If you stick to our
guide you will get higher bids, it’s that simple.
We would recommend you go for our option (a) listing which will mean an
independent professional will visit your home and take up to 24 professional
pictures (the car and paperwork), completing the 32 point checklist information,
creating your car’s damage condition report both inside and out all for £71. Alternatively
you can select our option (b) listing – this is a DIY listing where you simply
complete all the required information yourself.
-
·
We recommend 20 pictures of your car + paperwork with a minimum of a 3
mega pixels camera.
-
·
Take each image at either 1, 3 or 5 foot away from the car.
-
·
No person should appear in any photo.
-
·
Avoid any building or other cars in the background.
-
·
No signage or other commercial references may be in any photo.
-
·
Each image should capture at least 90% of the subject.
-
·
Avoid taking picture’s into the sun
or poor
light.
-
·
All picture’s should be
JPG format (no other formats) no more than 400KB each.
Use the following diagram to create the perfect pictures of your car:

Start at (1), take 9 steps back from the front wheel, and walk back at a
45degree angle from every starting point. Then move to (2) etc…
If you do not have the time, don’t have the right camera or simply prefer
someone to do it for you select our option (a) listing and a professional will
visit your home and create the above for you.
