Porsche background and Porsche deals news

There were 41,665 Porsche’s sold in the UK last year, making it one of the more exclusive brands seen on UK roads. Their flagship model is the 911, but the entry-level Cayman and Boxster has also attracted significant attention in 2016.

Headquartered in Zuffenhausen, a city district of Stuttgart, it was founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, an Austro-Hungarian engineer born in Maffersdorf. The first Porsche car was built in Austria in 1948, but the company quickly moved towards Germany, from where it built a remarkable lineage. Though the company is famous for its tradition of producing rear-engine cars, it is interested in producing front-engine, rear-drive sports cars as it would like to take that part of market to where it not considered a big player. The Cayenne is an example of this desire to reach out into unknown territory and win. It is also well-known for weathering changing market conditions with great financial stability. Contrary to the majority of German car manufacturers, Porsche has not moved its production out of its homeland like some of its competitors who have ventured to parts of Eastern Europe or further in search of cutting expenses.

The company has been highly successful in recent times, and indeed claims to have the highest profit per unit sold of any car company in the world. Figures confirm the fact that it has been the world's most profitable car maker for many years and much appreciated by great cars lovers. In May 2006, it was awarded the title of the most prestigious automobile brand by Luxury Institute. Porsche has been also very successful in motor sport, scoring more than 28,000 victories in races like the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2006, Porsche built 195 race cars for various international motor sports events.

The current Porsche range includes sports cars from the Boxster and the 911, their most famous product. The Cayman is a hard-top car similar to the Boxster but less expensive so that it is affordable to people breaking the posh, pricey Porsche myth. Introduced in 2002, the Cayenne was launched as Porsche's luxury SUV. It shares its chassis with the Volkswagen Touareg and Audi Q7, which is built at the VWAG factory in Bratislava.
