The 2016 Ford Edge is expected to go on sale this Spring in the UK and it's been labelled as a cut-price alternative to similar models such as the BMW X3 and Audi Q5.
Ford claim that the Edge is more than just an SUV, and have gone as far as describing it as "a confident statement of intent", but how does it differ to the rest?

The Edge is fitted with a number of eye-catching technology features including voice-control with Ford SYNC 2, a system that allows you to stay connected and in control of your smartphone, music, navigation system and climate control with voice commands.
Its 8" colour touchscreen also allows you to bring up a list of local restaurants by simply declaring "I'm hungry". The screen may be better used for safety use, as a front wide-view camera allows drivers to see a split-screen image so vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians coming from either side can be spotted.
It doesn't stop there with safety technology, the Ford Edge also comes with the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), which can help with changing lanes more safely. RADAR sensors scan the blind spots on either side of your vehicle, and when they detect one that you can't see, an orange light is displayed to warn you.
Other technology features include Active Noise Control, Active Park Assist, Pre-Collision Assist, hands-free tailgate, and parking distance sensors.
When it comes to the road, drivers can switch to Sport Mode, which Ford say allows for an easy drive on sweeping and curving roads. The Edge's 2.0 Duratorq TDCI engine can go from 0-62 mph in under 10 seconds.
Ford say that the Edge's All-Wheel Drive system can determine how much grip, cornering balance and responsiveness is needed when driving in wet, dry or icy road conditions. It then sends drive to the front or rear axle, delivering handling and improved efficiency for safe driving.
