Great looks, refinement and pricing make this one of the most desirable cars in the supermini category.Disadvantages:
It’s handling, engine noise at high revs and the lack of rear headroom are not its strengths.Summary:
The new Peugeot 208 looks and refinement may well help it to gain significant market share with its rivals. New PEUGEOT 208 Review:
The new Peugeot 208 replaces the 207 within the competitive growing supermini category.
Sales of the old 207 have never been very strong in the past however we do expect the new Peugeot 208 to be a far better seller due to its good looks, refinement, touch-screen features, classy graphics, chrome-outlined instruments and its three to four cylinder fuel efficient engines.
As you would imagine the car is easy to drive and has good all round visibility. The 208 does not corner very well, its suspension can be a bit bouncy and does not cope very well with pot holes.
On the plus side it is reasonably smooth on the motorway with a quiet cabin even at high speed however if you push the engine its a little loud.
The new Peugeot 208 has plenty of all round space for a car in its class including the boot although rear passengers may struggle a little with head room.
We estimate the new Peugeot 208 will sell very well due to it’s great looks and attention to detail.
As with any new model on the market the manufacturer is going to fight hard to stop great new car deals being offered, at least for the first 3 months or so. We do not estimate sales to compare anywhere to its main competitors the Ford Fiesta or the VW Polo until later in the year if significant discounts start to emerge.
