The CLC is Mercedes newest additional to itís C-Class range and designed in mind to challenge the BMW 1 Series and the Audi A3. Though, despite over 1000 different parts, modifications to the suspension and an invigorated interior, the CLC is simply an identical replica to the C-Class Sports Coupe of which it has replaced. Like itís C-Class relatives, the CLC is enchantingly stylish, with a bold and exciting front and rear end, it is also a fairly enjoyable ride. Even though the new steering setup is a little heavy and rather on the stiff side, it generally handles well and happily sashays along the road without a hint of noise. Mercedes have attached a choice of four petrol and two diesel engines to the CLC. The opening model is a 1.8 litre and comes with either 143bhp or 184bhp, both providing plenty of pulling power behind the wheel. Other alternatives include the 2.1 litre diesel and the petrol 350 model which can reach 60mph in just over six seconds. A sports model is also available which possesses further agility and offers more extras as standard. Further, the CLC is very comfortable, making long-haul journeys a breeze, though the leg room in the back seats leaves a lot to be desired. All-in-all the CLC fits in very well with the Mercedes C-Class range, stylish and a pleasure to drive. It is also the cheapest model in the C-Class series Ė see the AutoeBid price list for some superb deals.
