Citroen are now at the forefront of environmental activism within the motor industry. 20 models that it offers in this country have emissions of 120g/km or less which beats all other manufacturers hands-down. They were the first to offer stop-start technology which switches off the engine when idle in traffic, automatically restarting when the clutch is depressed. Citroen’s automated manual transmissions also feature a clever fuel and carbon dioxide saving mode. Diesel models can run on a mix of up to 30% biofuel – more than many other manufacturers can offer. One minor downside is that while it offers diesel particulate traps on most diesel models, these are not yet standard options.
