The 2016 Geneva Motor Show will see the fourth Audi Q model unveiled as the Q2, an SUV with a powerful design and a high level of functionality.
Designed to appeal to a younger audience, the Audi Q2 combines a quality of finish and a portfolio of connectivity, infotainment and assistance systems that will be instantly familiar from the larger Audi models.
The exterior features a lot of vertices and edges, and at the front a strong image is created by the high-mounted Singleframe grille in octagonal design as well as the large air inlets.
Especially eye-catching is the low roof that descends and merges into the C-pillars with colour offset blades. The rear body terminates in a dynamic way with a long roof spoiler and a diffuser that has an underbody-protection look.
Buyers will be able to enjoy an optional virtual cockpit and head-up display, as well as the driver assistance systems which come from the larger Audi models - including the Audi pre sense front that is standard.
The system recognises critical situations with other vehicles as well as pedestrians crossing in front of the vehicle, and if necessary it can initiate hard braking - to a standstill at low speeds. Other systems in the line-up include adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, traffic jam, Audi side assist, Audi active lane assist, traffic sign recognition and rear cross-traffic assist.
The Audi Q2 is highly connected, and comes equipped with a standard MMI screen that is positioned high on the instrumental panel, an infotainment system that can be operated by a rotary/push control and two buttons on the centre tunnel, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and iOS and Android operating systems connectivity.
Fundamental expectations of an SUV are fulfilled with the Q2, which possesses a high entry, good visibility and a large luggage compartment that holds 405 to 1,050 of capacity.
When the Q2 launches in the UK it will hold a selection of five different engines including a basic 1.0-litre three-cylinder TFSI, two four-cylinder petrol engines with 1.40 and 2.0 litres of displacement, and two four-cylinder diesel engines with 1.6 and 2.0 litres of displacement.
The Audi Q2 is expected to be open for UK order in July, with first delivers estimated to arrive in November 2016.
