The gap between the smartphone and infotainment systems in cars is becoming smaller and smaller, and now SEAT is planning to prioritising in-car connectivity across all of its models.

This will allow the driver to always be connected, as several new models including the New Ibiza Connect, New Alhambra, Leon MY16 and Toledo MY16, will be fitted with SEAT's state-of-the-art, three-in-one connectivity solution, Full Link.

The new technology will feature Apple Car Play for iPhone users, and Android Auto and Mirror-Link for Android devices, and is a first in the global car market.

SEAT say that Full Link removes fears about current and future compatibility, as well as allowing users to access many of their phone functions and apps safely on the move.

Head of Fleet and Business Sales at SEAT, Peter McDonald, said: "SEAT is striving, and achieving, excellence in several areas that our customers consider to be vital.

"We aren't content scoring highly when it comes to style, reliability and quality alone, we are now leading the way in connectivity, too.

"Full Link is a demonstration in how to seamlessly integrate, and take full advantage of smartphone features whether you're tech savvy or not. Any driver will undoubtedly benefit in terms of safety and minimising time lost, not to mention improved vehicle maintenance and driver behaviour."

Functioning alongside Full Link is SEAT DriveApp, which they say supports easy vehicle maintenance, eco driving guidance, and traffic alerts among other features.

Sending condition-based maintenance alerts to the driver's smartphone will prompt important regular checks like tyre pressures - a significant innovation that should lead to fewer accidents on the road.

The app will also feature 'Challenger', which gamifies eco driving with a series of tests designed to be fun and rewarding, by promoting a gentle competitiveness as groups of company drivers are encouraged to compete for the best individual score.

SEAT DriveApp and Full Link will be available with the New Ibiza and New Alhambra being launched in the UK later this year.
