Volvo background and Volvo deals news

Last year Volvo sold over 80 thousand cars in this country, meaning they are the 21st most popular car manufacturer. Their top-selling models are both SUVs, with the XC60 taking 1st place, selling 15,536 in June 2016, and the XC90 taking 2nd place.

Volvo don’t just make cars and SUVs, they also build commercial trucks, earth-moving equipment and public transport vehicles. Volvo’s capability for recycling is considerable: for example, approximately one third of a Volvo FH tractor is constructed from recycled materials, and 80% of engine components can be reused.
The Swedish company has also invested considerably in alternative fuels for its industrial products, including biomass and plug-in hybrid trucks, for which the later has been allocated $2.4 million.

On the roads, the engines Volvo are currently using are some of the cleanest and most frugal engines in the world. The V40, for example, emits under 100g/km carbon dioxide despite being a sizeable and refined five-door hatchback.

Volvo has made large efforts to reduce its environmental impact. Beginning at the manufacturing stage, Volvo claims to have reduced solvent emissions from 30kg per car in 1977 to 1.3kg per car in 2004. In 1991 it created a database of all chemicals used in its factories and has been working since then to reduce or eliminate all the harmful ones. Volvo also recycles water used in the factory to ensure that waste water containing harmful chemicals is not released. Volvo’s ‘PremAir’ system coats the car radiator with chemicals that neutralise oxides of nitrogen and low-level ozone.
