Carlo Abarth, the man behind the race car brand Abarthhas always been up for the challenge to beat everyone and everything in speed performance---even the Orient Express train, travelling over 850 miles from Vienna to Ostend. A professional racer turned businessman, Abarth founded Abarth & C with Guido Scagliarini in 1949 which has come to be famously known as the producer of performance cars with the badge of the Scorpion--- Abarth was born on 15 November,1908 under the sign of the scorpion. 

The company’s first production was the 204 A Roadster, based on the FIAT 1100. It immediately won the 1100 Sport Championship as well as Formula 2. Alongside racing, the company started to produce tuning kits that improved performance, power and speed of standard vehicles.   

Seventy years on, the Abarth has positioned itself as a legend in the race car industry and has been seeing steady growth. In 2018, it sold nearly 23,500 cars in Europewith sales up by 36.5% compared to 2017.  

With a wide range of products, Abarth cars in the United Kingdom are classified into two main categories: 595 Range and the Special Series.

 

595 Range 


The new 595 range is recognisable by the "70th Anniversary" badge, representing the continued existence of a legend. The mark also signifies Abarth’s branding strength amid the evolutions it hae gone through, expressed by the brand’s different power level offerings in response to the evolving needs of its different consumers---from 145 to 180 HP and Euro 6D-Temp engines. 

Prices for the 595 models start at around £15,700, which gets you the base 145hp variant. There's also a £2,000 premium for the cabriolet bodystyle. 595 cars have electric soft tops which allow you to enjoy an open-air performance.

At the 595 entry-level, the model displays a sporty look with a satin chrome detailing. With a 1.4 Turbo T-Jet with 145 HP, include a torque transfer control.
 

595 Pista may be the standard model for the 595 range but at its level, it already offers more than enough to give its passengers entertainment and utmost convenience throughout your thrillful ride. With its Uconnect system equipped with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto which pairs with an iPhone/Android Phone in the car, drivers can access maps, music, contacts, messaging and all other contents of your iPhone or Android phones easily that you don’t need to keep your eyes from the road.  

 

595 Pista 


 The Pista shows off a bold and aggressive look with the new calliper colour which elaborates this high-quality exterior design. It also offers ultimate safety with its maximum braking power: an improved Record Monza exhaust with an active valve and attractive new tailpipe styling that comes as standard on any 595 Pista. 

With the handy "Sport" button connected to the active valve, drivers can select their chosen engine sound at any given moment; and the Koni rear suspension with FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) technology optimises your driving experience through its superior road holding, handling and stability, ensuring maximum safety is met in all conditions.

The Pista has a weight to power ratio of 6.5 kilograms per horsepower (kg/HP); an acceleration of 7.3 meters per second; a max of 165 HP.

 

595 Turismo 


The Turismo features Abarth-exclusive interior design with its leather steering wheel, satin grey dashboard with contrasting satin chrome interior detailing and black leather sports seats. Further, it boasts of Alutex trim for the pedals, footrest and door kick-plates, bespoke floor mats, machined aluminium fuel and oil filler caps and dark tinted rear windows. 

Its overall design allows for improved aerodynamics with its lateral air intakes on the rear bumper bring increased air-flow to the engine and intercooler, as well as the front bumper, side skirts, spoiler and the rear diffuser which contribute to sticking the car to the road.

Its 17” Gran Turismo alloy wheels are also 7% lighter, with 205/40 tyres and with more than 50% greater ventilating surface, for a better disposal of heat and better performance of the braking system. 

The Uconnect in Turismo also harbours remarkable upgrades with a 7” HD system. The latest generation UconnectTM 7” HD LIVE Nav can take you wherever you want, while the integrated Abarth Telemetry monitors your performance.

The Turismo has a weight to power ratio of 6.3 kilograms per horsepower (kg/HP); an acceleration of 7.3 meters per second; a max of 165 HP. 

The 165hp 'Turismo' variants from just over £19,000 while the Turismo MTA Auto transmission will cost you some £1,300 more. 

 

595 Competizione 


Exclusive to the 595 Competizione is a Performance Pack that comprises of: Abarth Mechanical Limited Slip Differential, Abarth Corsa seats by Sabelt in leather and Alcantara® with carbon fibre shell, Lighter 17" Supersport wheels in matt black, window-integrated aerial with aluminium roof cap and Abarth side stripe with coloured front and rear bumper inserts. 

The Esseesse improves on the 595 models’ overall performance and safety with its Brembo's braking system. With this system’s fixed 4-piston aluminium front calliper and perforated, self-ventilated front brake disc, this Abarth model ensures a quick response, minimal braking distance and a reassuring feel, even after extended use. 

The Competizione also offers an optional BeatsAudio™ system which has: 480 watts, digital eight-channel amplifier and has two dome tweeters installed in the front pillars, two midwoofers  (165 mm) in the front doors, two full-range (165 mm) speakers in the rear side panels and one subwoofer (200 mm) in the boot.
 

With the 180bhp 'Competizione' 595 model, the list price hikes to about £21,000.
 

595 Esseesse 


The Esseesse has been upgraded to make your speed be heard, thanks to the unmistakable sound of the Akrapovič exhaust, available for the first time on a 595as it has been previously an exclusive feature to the 695 range of Abarth’s Special Series. The Akrapovič exhaust draws attention with its carbon fibre tipped silencers and inimitable sound. 

Esseesse offers uncompromising power with the Garrett GT 1446 fixed geometry oversized turbocharger which augments power delivery at all times. All this, while with greater manoeuvrability and stability because of the FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) technology, Koni front and rear suspensions. These shock absorbers are designed for a safer and more thrilling drive.  

The Turismo has a weight to power ratio of 5.8 kilograms per horsepower (kg/HP); an acceleration of 6.7 meters per second; a max of 180 HP. 

 

Special Series 


Abarth’s Special Series boasts of a line up of several limited-edition models that have significance to the history of the company and have features that make it an interest to collectors, such as the capability to deliver more power and personality to the Scorpion mark compared to the regular brands.   

695 Rivale 175 Anniversary: available in a hatchback version with black glass sun roof, this beauty is only limited to the production of 350 units. 

695 XSR Yamaha LTD Edition: born from the partnership of Abarth and Yamaha, this model gives the best of both manufacturers. This limited edition, with only 1,390 units made, features  Akrapovic Exhaust, carbon fibre, and the overall feel of driving an XSR, only in four-wheels. 

695 Biposto: touted Abarth’s smallest supercar. But not to be underestimated for its size,  

695 Biposto Record: The Modena yellow livery, the mechanical limited-slip differential and the Akrapovic exhaust are a concentration of style and performance. Only 133 were produced. 

695 Maserati Edition: this model combines the performance of the Scorpion with the elegance of the Trident, giving customers the choice to take on an amazing drive with elegance. Production for this was limited to only 480 units. 

695 Tributo Ferrari: merging the Horse and the Scorpion into one for outstanding performance, the 695 Tributo Ferrari. Only 1,649 units of this were produced. 

595 50° Anniversario: Production was limited to only 390 units of this were produced. 

Cabrio Italia: with an elegant blue colour, the Cabrio Italia portrays the Italian elegance and sporty passion combined. Only 150 units of this were produced.  

Zerocento: comes with a variable back pressure exhaust system, leather upholstery with silver seams and details inspired by classic cars.  Only 100 units of this were produced.  

Abarth Opening Edition: available in Campovolo Grey and Iridato White, with red brakes, inserts and detailing, leather upholstery and tinted windows. Has a 160 horsepower, 137 mph, from 0 to 62 in just 7.4 seconds. Only 200 units of this were produced.  

Punto Scorpion: powered by a 180 HP 1.4 T-Jet Engine and a six-speed gearbox, enabling it to accelerate 0-62 mph in just 8.2 seconds. Only 199 units of this were produced.
